Tell us about you (Short, optional bio):
I was dx. w T1 as an 8 year old in 1955. I've always been very interested in volunteering for medical research, but haven't really done that much. I'm a Joslin Medalist and have donated my body for their research studies. Up until about 3 years ago I had very little contact with other adults living with diabetes. Then I discovered the online diabetes community and a new world opened up. I won a scholarship to attend the first Diabetes UnConference in Las Vegas and suddenly gained 90 friends. It was really a life changing experience that I highly recommend.
About me: live in Madison, WI w my spouse of 34 yrs, 1 adult daughter + 3 teen grandchildren in Evanston, IL, I'm a visual artist/fine art photographer [www.creativevision.com], very much an advocate for social justice, single payer healthcare and patient rights.
