Coffee and Diabetes.....

I will admit, I'm a huge coffee addict.  While I like to say I only drink one cup a day, the reality is that my coffee mug is so oversized that it fits the equivalent of 5 cups from my coffee pot.  laugh

Anyway, this article about coffee and diabetes caught my eye at A Sweet Life:

https://asweetlife.org/coffee-and-diabetes-whats-the-relationship/

It seems that although the evidence isn't concrete, coffee drinkers may have decreased risk of many health conditions including Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

I'm happy to keep drinking my coffee, but I should mention that it does raise my blood sugar.  A CDE helped me determine that the caffeine is the cooperate and we worked out an insulin dosage to go with my coffee.  Does anyone else here take insulin for a coffee spike?

Most of the time I don't spike from coffee at all but...on a recent trip the person who made the morning coffee must have made it extra strong 'cos my BG rocketed up and I spent the rest of the morning trying to get it under control!! Weird!

I do admit that I make really really strong coffee.  In fact, most of my friends won't even drink it.  So maybe that has something to do with the spike.
